More Soil

The biodegradeable fraction of the waste fed into Parc composts down into a bio-compost.

This is often called Compost Like Output (CLO).

When this material emerges from the Parc tower it has been sterilised by the heat of the tower. It is windrowed for six weeks to allow it to mature.

CLO use to land is restricted to previously developed land, we are using the CLO produced by Parc on former brownfield sites as restoration material and to provide a bed of material in which to grow short-rotation will coppice as a bio-fuel.

Standard and requirements met by CLO
CLO produced at Parc meets CLEA standard and Dutch Soil Standards for commercial and industrial landscaping purposes.

You can read more about our CLO testing regime here.

ParcGro

This is a 100% recycled soil material made up of equals parts of Parc soil conditioner, green waste compost and recovered soils and stones from our aggregates business.

The first component of ParcGro is soil conditioner (Compost Like Output) this is formed during the aerobic digestion process of municipal solid waste. The second component is Premier Green Waste Compost, this is composted green waste, collected by local authorities from households, which has been shredded, windrowed and screened to produce compost. The final component is screened soils and subsoils processed by the Aggregates Recycling centre at Coxhoe, the soils are from uncontaminated sites usually produced in the process of site clearance and development. All three components are mixed together equally to produce the final product – ParcGro. This synthetic soil mixture meets the British Standard for Topsoil (BS 3882) which is currently used for the production of Short Rotation Coppice Willow (the willow is grown on top of old landfill and other brownfield sites) and brownfield site remediation.

ParcGro standards  and regulations fulfilled
ParcGro complies with the highest category of Animal Byproducts Regulations and fulfils numerous other standards, such as the stringent CLEA and Dutch soil standards for residential use.

Protecting land
Recent publications suggest that the UK is losing carbon from its soils at the worrying rate of around 13 million tonnes per annum and the sorts of high quality soils that can be produced by processes like Parc can contribute to replenishment of these losses, in circumstances where accelerating climate change will further acerbate our rate of soil loss.

Premier Green Waste Compost
We manufacture 36,000 tonnes per year from the garden and park clippings from several local authorities. Green Waste Compost is subject to different testing and uses compared to CLO. The Green Waste Compost we produce is PAS100:2005 compliant.
