Waste analysis
A detailed waste analysis of the mixed residual input waste was carried out by MEL Research on the 20 October 2007. This was directly from an Easington District Council refuse collection vehicle and is typical of incoming waste. The Biodegradable Municipal Waste (BMW) totalled 67.6% by weight, exactly in line with the assumed 68% for MSW in England. We intend to carry out another analysis on the residue from the survival bag scheme once the new purple bags are in full circulation.
