Future Sites and Construction

Currently there is only one Parc facility operating. This is the three tower site at Thornley in County Durham.

We have secured planning permission for:

  1. A fourth tower at Thornley.
  2. A six tower facility in the County Durham.
  3. A 12 tower facility at our Washington Recycling Centre. The Washington Recycling Centre is a three phase development: the first phase is a trade and industrial waste recycling facility; the second phase is a household co-mingled dry recyclable facility and the third phase is the Parc site.

Future Constructions

Concrete towers
Given the success of the concrete tower at the Thornley site this is likely to be the prefered method of construction.

Sealed building
The current Parc site is built in an old waste transfer station that has been extended to accomodate the towers and the segregation equipment. This is not ideal.
The building that houses the towers in future builds will be under negative pressure and the waste reception will be fitted with quick close automatic doors. This will minimise any odour escaping from the raw waste.
