Chemicals and Pathogen Testing Regime
Testing of Soil Conditoner and ParcGro
Multiple samples of CLO are taken throughout a discharge run and stored as a composite sample under cool conditions until submission to the relevant laboratory. Metals and physical properties are analysed externally via Severn Trent Laboratories on a tri-monthly basis, e:coli and salmonella analysis is carried out at an independent Defra laboratory as per the ABPO Cat.3 Approval every two weeks for each of the processing towers.
Soil conditioner material is stockpiled in windrows at the Premier-Joint Stocks Recycling Centre at Coxhoe awaiting blending within ParcGo™ production. Samples of this stockpile are also taken prior to blending and checked for E.Coli and salmonella analysis via Severn Trent Laboratories.
Finally the ParcGro material itself is subject to rigorous chemical and physical analysis to ensure the material meets BS3882 for topsoil, CLEA and Dutch Soil Standards, prior to spreading to land for use in coppicing, forestry and brown-field site restoration. The chemical contamination standards used to determine the acceptability or otherwise of materials are in a stage of transition from the old ICRCL standards to new CLEA standards. We reference our sampling results to the CLEA standards where possible and where no CLEA standard is yet established (specifically for copper and zinc contamination) we have used the internationally recognised Dutch Soil Standard.
